30 Tips That’ll Help You Get Noticed At iPop

iPop is just a few weeks away! As you’re working on those monologues and practicing how to walk like a model down the runway, here are a few extra tips that should help you stand out at the convention.

Tip #1: Remember – you only have one chance to make a first impression. Be prepared!

Tip #2:  Be ready to answer the famous question “tell me about yourself,” and know when to stop talking

Tip #3:  Look your best, but keep it simple

Tip #4:  Don’t assume you can or should wear the latest trends in fashion.

Tip #5: Keep your Victoria’s Secret a secret…wear your lingerie under your clothes.

Tip #6: Be polite at all times as in: ‘Yes Sir, No Sir, Yes Ma’am, No Ma’am.’

Tip #7: Do not bring GF’s, BF’s, BFF’s or BS to your auditions

Tip #8: Do not take your pet to an audition even if the little darling fits in your purse.

Tip #9: Do no chew gum…ever!

Tip #10: Do not use your cell phone when you are in a meeting, waiting for an appointment or in a restaurant-when you are on your cell, be sure to keep your voice down!

Tip #11: Never ever use your cell phone at an audition!

Tip #12: Do not tell people how tired or stressed you are.

Tip #13: Read a classic book, study a language and take lessons in a sport you’ve never done before. And make sure you know what’s going on in the world around you, be it environmental issues, politics or arts.

Tip #14: Exercise, be flexible and balanced yet strong.

Tip #15: Take dance and singing lessons, even if you’re a model.

Tip #16: Realize that not everyone will remember your name (until you’re very famous), so be ready to reintroduce yourself.

Tip #17: Always be on time, do not make excuses.

Tip #18: Do not put anything on your resume that is not true

Tip #19: Learn and listen: You’re not learning when you’re doing the talking.

Tip #20: Learn that criticism from a professional should be listened to and acted upon.

Tip #21: Make sure you warm up before your performance.

Tip #23: Be polite and kind to everyone: that receptionist or assistant can quickly sink you!

Tip #24: You have to realize that becoming a star doesn’t happen overnight and takes incredible passion, work and time!

Tip #25: Don’t try to be anyone else but YOU!

Tip #26: Do not take criticism or rejection personally. Separate yourself from the roles or parts you are auditioning for.

Tip #27: Keep working on the artwork which is you

Tip #28: Do not ever “apologize” for your performance

Tip #29: Models: Do not lie about your height or size
