Auditioning check list

Auditioning check list

Pre-audition jitters getting the better of you? Here’s a quick Auditioning check list that you can print out and look at before an audition!

1. Take a deep breath and count to ten.

2. Before you walk into the room quietly repeat the one thing  your character wants and go for it!

3. It’s just one audition. If you don’t get the part, it’s no big deal.

4. Use what you’re feeling. If you’re nervous, use it in the audition.

5. Be sure to have your headshot and resume ready to hand to the casting director.

6. Don’t ask to start over! If you mess up, keep going and use the mistake. At most auditions you’ll get another chance to do the scene again anyway.

7. When you walk into the room smile, say “hello” and go right to your mark for the slate.

8. When doing a slate, don’t be corny. Just say your name into the camera!

9. Play the reality of the scene. Even if you’re auditioning to play a talking dog in a dog food commercial, play the reality of that.

10. After the audition is over, shake it off and just let it go.
