22 Sep Bunker Basics: How to speak Hollywood part 2
Last week we explained some of the basic terms used in the modeling and acting industry. This week we continue the series with more basic terms that every aspiring model and actor should know.
Casting Director
This is the man or woman, hired by the production company, director, or producer to call in actors and hold the casting sessions. Casting directors don’t actually hire anyone, they just call them in and put them on tape.
SAG Voucher
These are the golden tickets for non-union actors. If you’re non-union, you basically don’t exist to all the best projects in town. Collect three of these and your in SAG.
Featured
Featured is a fancy-pants term for a background extra. All the pros in Hollywood know it so just go ahead and leave it off of your resume. You want to be an actor in Hollywood, not a background player.
Crafty Services (Crafty)
The craft service table is the water cooler of the acting world. Everyone (even the stars) will gather her to grab a bagel, juice box, and chat it up in between takes.
Martini Shot
The final shot of the day! It’s called that because everyone during the Golden Age of Hollywood were a bunch of drunkards. Really classy drunkards, but drunkards nonetheless.
