Bunker Basics: How to speak Hollywood part 3

bunkerla.comIn our last installment of Bunker Basics: How to speak Hollywood, we explore the lingo you’d hear on the set.

Apple or Apple Box
A wooden box that actors will stand on to make them taller. They come in four sizes: full, half, quarter, and pancake.

First position
You’ll hear the director yell this all the time. It just means for the actors to go back to their original spot at the beginning of the scene/take.

Magic Hour
This refers to the time before sunrise and after sunset when the sky is a little dark but still illuminated.

Scripty
This is the script supervisor. If you screw up a line, they’ll be the first to let you know it.

Video VIllage
This is the area where the viewing monitors are placed for the director and others in production hang out. Unless you’re a name actor or invited by the director, you don’t belong in this area.

That’s it! Now you can put “fluent in Hollywood” on the special skills part of your resume! Just kidding. Don’t do that…seriously, don’t.
