This recent bit of news from Deadline.com has the entertainment industry buzzing. Fox’s chairman, Kevin Reilly, announced today that Hollywood’s long standing traditional pilot season is getting the ax.
“The broadcast development system was built in different era with three networks and is highly inefficient. It is nothing ripshort of a miracle talent can still produce anything of quality in that environment,” Reilly said in a statement.
So what does this mean to you the actor? No one can say for sure right now, but one immediate effect of the announcement could mean that it’s more important now then ever to stay current with your headshots photos.
In the olden days, actors could get headshot photos taken and printed once or twice a year specifically for pilot season. Now with pilots constantly being produced actors will need to keep their headshots fresh for year-round submissions.
Rest in peace Pilot Season.
