Acting: The greatest career move for about .000001 percent of all actors in Hollywood. As for the rest of us, well, it’s still pretty awesome! For our thanksgiving special here are five reasons you should thank your lucky stars that you didn’t go to law school like your mom wanted.

Smart investments

While your friends back home are wasting their money on something frivolous like a 401K, you’re playing smart by investing in your self through that level 1 UCB improv class. Suckers.

Everyday is casual Friday

You can proudly say that you don’t have to wear a suit to an office. As a matter of fact, you don’t even have to go to an office since the average actor hasn’t had a steady job for about five years, which is totally fine! More time to focus on the craft!

Masters of rejection

While most people would give up and move on to another career for being rejected for a job so many times, the actor can brush it off as if it’s nothing. A dedicated actor wouldn’t even consider a career change until they’re in their late 70’s.

Getting to work with interesting people

There aren’t may professions where you get the opportunity to work with such a wide variety of people. You’ll get to work with character actors, comedic actors, dramatic actors, and the list goes on and on.

Paying your dues

There’s nothing like the satisfying feeling of paying your dues by doing plays in the basement of a Chinese takeout restaurant for about 20 years before booking that Verizon commercial.
