Having an interview or working with model agencies can be stressful, as you know it could wind up having a big impact on your career and your future. Just like approaching any sort of job interview, you’ll want to take some preparations beforehand to learn just what will be expected of you in order to make a great impression. A few tips on acing your model agency interview are:
- Prepare ahead of time – Make sure you have your address down, the time down, and what you’re going to wear. Make sure that any special clothing or headshot requests are taken care of, and we would also suggest doing a dry run to the model agency building the day before to ensure you won’t get lost and miss your appointment time!
- Ready your look – Your look will be important, and you’ll want to look just as good in person as you do in the headshots or comp cards you’ll be bringing along. Giving yourself a hair treatment, a fresh haircut 1 to 2 weeks beforehand, drinking plenty of water, and keeping yourself neat and tidy is always recommended.
- Prep for questions – Modeling agencies will often ask a series of questions, so make sure you’re prepared for whatever they may ask. Having a friend or relative interview you before the meeting can really help to loosen your nerves and prepare what you will want to say!
- Pay close attention during the meeting – During the meeting, you may be given advice, criticism, or instructions, and it’s important to really take in everything the agency is communicating to you. If you tune it out or allow your nerves to get in the way, you may miss important information which could hinder you during this current meeting or other meetings in the future. If you do receive criticism, don’t take it to heart, and simply learn how to improve upon what they may be criticizing for next time!
